Dayna Steele, "Houston's First Lady of Rock and Roll," is running for Congress! That's right, the head of the Steele-workers is vying for the Texas’ 36th Congressional District seat.
According to Wikipedia (you come here for media, not politics), Texas's 36th Congressional District is a new district that was created as a result of the 2010 Census. Steve Stockman held the seat first and now Brian Babin does.

It is done! I am officially a candidate for Texas Congressional District 36. June 30th is the filing deadline for our first fundraising efforts. This is where people will take notice that I am a serious candidate for the office and I am asking for your help today.
I am running as an independent Democrat against extreme right wing Tea Party incumbent Brian Babin (R) who has voted to take away health care from 64,000 people in the district, wants to privatize education, votes for more aggression overseas, approves of a religious travel ban, votes in favor of the lobbies that fund him, only meets with his highest donors, sees no wrong doing with our Russian contacts, and has said, "Sometimes a lady needs to be told when she is being nasty." I think it is time we get his attention.

I am a 25+ year resident of CD 36 and know its people, businesses, geography, and needs well. Wonder Husband Charlie flew for NASA in the district for 30 years. Our sons have attended and thrived in the schools here. I have started and run successful businesses here. It would be an honor to serve the people of this district, so many of whom have been ignored for so long. Too long.
