The blog says he will start in early May.
Bruce had a long history with Houston's channel 11. He was an award-winning reporter and Washington Bureau Chief for the station from 1985-1995.
Besides KHOU, Bruce also ran the Washington Bureau for KDFW-TV/Dallas and led an EMMY award winning news team as News Director at KCET-TV/Los Angeles. He also reported for LA’s top rated KTLA-TV “News at Ten.”
Right before returning to Houston, Bruce was the deputy national editor and a senior network news manager for NPR (National Public Radio). He also served as Managing Director in charge of NPR West in Culver City, California, which is NPR’s largest broadcast center outside of its home base in Washington, DC.
According to an internal KTUL memo obtained by FTVLive, Bruce also has connections to his new gig. He grew up in nearby Fayetteville, Arkansas.
