740 KTRH changes music and becomes ABC News affiliate
Looks like a Houston radio station has New Year's resolutions like people. Well, NewsRadio 740 KTRH has at least made some changes for 2016.
Last Monday, I realized the station changed its news update music and national news affiliation from FOX News Radio to ABC News. I swear the new KTRH music has ABC music elements in it.
I emailed the station with some questions about this, never heard back with answers, so I am going to have to go with the rest of this post off my memory.
If I remember correctly, KTRH switched from CBS News to FOX News Radio back in the early 2000s. I believe in the past, KTRH has been an ABC affiliate.
You might remember that the shuttered News 92 KROI was an ABC affiliate.
Readers have asked me where FOX News is going in town...if you hear it pop up...let me know.
UPDATE
Folks who worked at KTRH in the late 90s/early 2000s, plus my own comments section say that KTRH was a CBS affiliate, switched to ABC around the turn of the century and became an FOX News Radio affiliate in 2003. Based on this post, we see how my memory has served me so far today, but that all makes sense. It seems like then KTRH reporter Aaron Katersky covered the Iraq war for KTRH in 2003 and then was hired by ABC News soon after that.
