Now that KTRK abc13 meteorologist Casey Curry has swapped shifts with Travis Herzog, I think we might see more of her around town since she doesn't have to wake up at 2am.

Case in point, last Friday when Curry, husband Carl Hahn and daughter Windsor were supporting a good cause.

Everything under the bright full moon turned blue for child abuse awareness at the "Once in a Blue Moon" Pool Party, which was held on Friday, July 31, 2015. The Thread Alliance and The Houstonian Club welcomed close to 500 members and guests at The Houstonian resort and lap pool to celebrate the last blue moon until August 2018. Because, they believe "child abuse should never happen, not even once in a blue moon!" In efforts to raise awareness for child abuse prevention, the event also raised over $2,000 to benefit The Thread Alliance.

Blue is the color for child abuse awareness and guests of all ages enjoyed a water obstacle course, dancing to the DJ, Smurf's "Once in a Blue Moon" dive-in movie, and swimming with blue noodles and toys. Helping to protect children was the campus Harris County Constables with their own Child Fingerprint/DNA kit and Profile Keeper. Children and their adults were treated to complimentary blue snow cones, blue cotton candy and s'mores.

All proceeds from the Arbor Grill's blue moon menu benefited The Thread Alliance, which included Blue Moon beer, blue agave margarita, blue corn chips with guacamole and salsa, blueberry and grilled chicken salad, and grilled flat iron steak.

The Thread Alliance, a non-profit organization founded by Sheila Aron, is dedicated to ending the cycle of child abuse. The non-profit's mission is to bring child abuse awareness to the forefront and provide a central registry of local, state, and national resources for those seeking child abuse prevention, intervention, or treatment information and services. By increasing awareness and volunteerism through individual and community participation, The Thread Alliance strives to protect every child from cruelty and neglect and make child abuse a thing of the past.
