Chita Johnson wants you to ESCAPE with her

Win a date with KHOU's Chita Johnson - and by date I mean a walk around the TV station with her pointing things out

Here is your chance to get served by a Houston media celebrity. That's right, they will serve you food without jamming a microphone in your face. Maybe you can tip them with a hot story idea.

It all goes down at the 34th Annual ESCAPE Celebrity Serve Benefit Sunday, April 26, 6:30 p.m. at Tony’s.

And mikemcguff.com can exclusively tell you that Chita Johnson is an auction prize at the benefit. The KHOU 11 morning meteorologist will personally take you behind the scenes of  her station. If you're to nervous to be alone with the striking weathercaster, you can get up to 9 people in there with you. Maybe you won't get as tongue talking to her in a crowd of friends.

SHAZAM! ESCAPE Family Resource Center has announced “Superheroes” as the theme for its 34th Annual ESCAPE Celebrity Serve Benefit and former Navy SEAL Rob O'Neill, one of the most highly decorated combat veterans of our time who served on the successful U.S. Special Forces raid of the compound of Al Qaeda Leader Osama bin Laden on May 2, 2011, as a special guest.

At the super-charged fundraiser, set for Sunday, April 26, 6:30 p.m. at Tony’s, guests will mix and mingle with a colossal collection of “caped crusading” celebrity servers, a.k.a. local media, sports, political and society personalities, whose epic mission is to help raise funds for ESCAPE’s tireless work to prevent child abuse and neglect in the greater Houston community.

“We are honored and thrilled to have a former Navy SEAL in our midst whose real-life heroism – he held combat leadership roles in more than 400 combat missions in four different theaters of war -- has been recognized with more than 52 decorated honors, including two Silver Stars, four Bronze Stars with Valor, a Joint Service Commendation Medal with Valor, three Presidential Unit citations and many more,” said Joan Schnitzer Levy, Celebrity Serve Co-Chair with Gerald Franklin for an unprecedented 33 consecutive years.

For a new twist this year, ESCAPE will place one Houston Superhero celebrity to be seated at each table for the duration of the evening.

The ESCAPE Celebrity Serve Benefit is a major annual source of funding for the 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization and is held in April as part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. ESCAPE, whose mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect before a child is harmed, helps promote happy childhoods by providing intervention, education and support programs to families in crisis. Founded in 1983 by the Houston-area chapters of The National Exchange Club, ESCAPE relies on private support to prevent and combat emotional, physical and sexual violence towards children.

According to ESCAPE CEO Lidya K. Osadchey, in fiscal year 2014, the organization collaborated with 92 organizations to provide deliveries of child abuse prevention programs and parenting classes in 78 locations in Harris, Fort Bend, Galveston, Chambers and Liberty counties in English and Spanish, and in three school districts, reaching more than 5,000 parents and children with its life-changing and family-strengthening programs. ESCAPE Family Resource Center is committed locally and globally to offering court ordered and CPS approved parenting classes, parenting tips and tools that anyone can use to develop positive parenting and appropriate discipline skills.

CBS Houston, a division of CBS Radio Inc., has named ESCAPE Family Resource Center the Best Resource For Single Parents In Houston and the Houston Chronicle has designated ESCAPE Family Resource Center as one of Houston’s top workplaces for
three years in a row.

Tickets to the “Superheroes” ESCAPE Celebrity Serve Benefit, which includes a four-course fine dining experience at Tony’s, 3755 Richmond Avenue, start at $400 and table sponsorships range from $4,500 (Shazam!) to $15,000 (Up, Up & Away!). To purchase tickets or tables, or donate to the live auction, please call Chris Rambeau at 832-367-9117 or ESCAPE, Sandi Mercado, (713) 942-9500, ext. 14, or go to http://www.learntoparent.org and click on the “Celebrity Serve Benefit.”
