In celebration of this year's Black History Month, Houston Public Media presents African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross profiling the rich history, culture and contributions of African Americans this Sunday, March 2 at 4pm on TV 8.

Written and presented by Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gate, Jr., this documentary takes viewers on an engaging journey with visits to key historical sites, lively debates with some of America’s top historians and interviews with living eyewitnesses – including school integration pioneers Ruby Bridges and Charlayne Hunter-Gault, former Black Panther Kathleen Neal Cleaver, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, and many more.

Throughout the program, Houston Public Media has invited special guests from the greater Houston area to share their stories, knowledge and experiences on life as an African American in Houston. Guests include former NASA astronaut Dr. Bernard Harris, media professional Jerome Gray, Texas Southern University’s Dr. Sarah Trotty and the Houston Ebony Opera Guild.
