Travel host Rick Steves jetting to Houston

Houston Public Media presents bestselling author and PBS travel expert Rick Steves for a special one‐night only event Tuesday, December 3 at 5:00 p.m. at The Junior League of Houston. Join the frugal European travel guru as he discusses his latest adventures and the act of travel diplomacy.

Tickets are $75 for members and $100 for the general public. Members receive access to a meet and greet photo opportunity with Rick Steves.

Since 1973, Rick Steves has spent four months every year exploring Europe with a mission to help make European travel accessible and meaningful for Americans. In travelling the world, Steves has become an advocate of citizen diplomacy believing the best way for Americans to improve “Homeland Security” is to travel the world, learn about different cultures and provide opportunities for others to meet everyday Americans.

“I have long held that travel can be a powerful force for peace. Travel promotes understanding at the expense of fear, and understanding bridges conflict between nations” says Steves.

Steves has researched and written more than 50 travel guidebooks with his unique brand of travel knowhow. He also writes and hosts the HoustonPBS television series Rick Steves' Europe, and also produces and hosts the weekly KUHF News radio show Travel with Rick Steves.

As part of the upcoming fundraising pledge drive, Steves will also join HoustonPBS live in‐studio for a special Rick Steves’ Europe Marathon on Tuesday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. offering the latest on sightseeing in the grand cities of Europe, and off‐the-beaten path locations. Episode highlights include the ancient glory of Rome, Florentine delights, Tuscan side trips, the regal and intimate grandeur of Paris, the historic and dynamic London and the seductive charm of Venice and its lagoon.
