Univision 45 KXLN hires Raul Peimbert from the network

Univision 45 KXLN is pulling out the big guns in its latest main anchor hire.

Univision West Coast correspondent for Network and Affiliate News, Raul Peimbert, will be sitting behind the desk at Houston's channel 45 soon. Before working for the network, Peimbert was the main anchor for Los Angeles' Univision 34 KMEX.

According to the network, Peimbert is one of the most well-known journalists in the Hispanic broadcasting world. He covered the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11, the last three Presidential inaugurations and has conducted one on one interviews with 56 Heads of State and Government. Those interviewed by Peimbert include former US Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, Latin American leaders Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega among others.

Peimbert has won seven Emmys and earned 11 nominations. He won a Peabody Award for his role in the Univision campaign "It's time: Citizenship."

On Monday, Peimbert tweeted, "I joined the Univision news team in Houston! Certainly a long wait and desired career goal."

Peimbert starts at Univision 45 KXLN Thursday, October 25 along side newly named anchor Michelle Galvan.

Media Moves is reporting that Peimbert will anchor the 10pm news, while current anchor Osvaldo Corral will continue working the 5pm newscast with Galvan. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
