Christine Haas returns to Texas at Fox 7 KTBC
I've written many times about how KHOU 11 grabbed Lisa Hernandez from Los Angeles ABC owned and operated station KABC 7 after anchor Lucy Noland took off for LA's KNBC 4. Now the Belo Houston station is pulling another Switch-a-Roo with a California station.
KHOU 11 morning anchor Christine Haas tells me she is leaving for San Diego's NBC owned and operated station KNSD 7 NBC San Diego. She will be sitting in the 4 and 5pm anchor chair for the San Diego station.
"I am thrilled about this new opportunity," Haas told mikemcguff.com. "The New Year is bringing with it a job change...I'm thrilled! Not only am I going to be able to sleep, I'll be anchoring early evenings at one of the greatest stations and do some investigative reporting - which, as you know, is my passion. It's a win-win. And who could deny the beauty of San Diego?"
You might remember that KHOU 11 grabbed Rekha Muddaraj from KFMB San Diego right before Christmas - just a few weeks ago.
Haas came to KHOU in August 2008 from sister station KVUE 24 where she was the main anchor for five years. Before that, she anchored at KARE 11 in Minneapolis; WTSP in Tampa, FL; KTHV in Little Rock, AR; and KAMR in Amarillo, TX.
She has done well in the awards category too. In fact, according to a station memo, Haas won six Lone Star EMMYS and 10 Murrow awards while working in Texas.
"You Stay Classy San Diego" and Haas will help you stay that way. Haas' last day at KHOU is this Friday.
