KHOU 11's Alex Sanz to WPTV 5

KHOU 11's Alex Sanz is heading east.

The Houston City Hall and Harris County government reporter is joining WPTV NewsChannel 5 in West Palm Beach. Guess what he will be covering there? That's right, government and politics.

According to the KHOU memo that went out today, Sanz will also contribute to FLDemocracy2012.com, a joint venture of The E. W. Scripps Company, its Florida television stations, the Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers and the Naples Daily News.

This new gig gets Sanz back to where he grew up. I'm assuming that means he can get help from his family with the young twins he and his wife brought into this world last year.

Sanz has been with the Belo Houston station since 2007. He starts at top rated WPTV in January.

  1. This is a big loss for Houston! Alex is a great guy, a smart reporter and one of the best friends I've ever had! South Florida politics in an election year at a good station is a smart move! Best of luck, Alex!

  2. You could've just titled this post "Alex Sanz is taking his talents to South Beach".

  3. Based on how Reyna looked this a.m., while filling in for Squeaky Freeman and butchering the news delivery ("4 children were shot BUT ONLY 2 DIED") I thought she was Radar.
How in God's name did she get in the anchor chair.....

  4. Agree with first comment...The loss of Alex Sands is a big one at KHOU-TV. Smart, handsome, agreeable...right after he came on board he was a Celebrity Scooper at the opening of a Ben & Jerry's so I got to meet him up close and personal. Big loss to Houston TV.
