89.3 KSBJ's Liz Jordan announces departure

There have been some big exits from 89.3 KSBJ in Houston over the last few months. First the Christian music station lost Susan O'Donnell of the “Morning Show with Mike and Susan” in July to her new role as the station's program director. Next Mike Kankelfritz of the same show recently departed for an Indianapolis station.

This week, we learned from an on air announcement that KSBJ afternoon personality Liz Jordan has decided to leave the station to be a full-time mother.

According to the station's website Jordan Leigh Kilgore was born on July 24th at 4:45pm, weighing 7.5 lbs and measuring 21 inches long. Jordan recently blogged about life as a new mother.

Jordan's station bio says the host is a native Houstonian who started in the evenings at the station in 2004. It goes on to say that Jordan's transparency has helped the host bond with listeners.

Jordan did say at the end of the announcement that she might return to the station one day.

Just more proof that KSBJ still does radio the right way, here is video of when Jordan's now husband, Houston filmmaker Donald Kilgore, proposed to her live on the air. In my opinion, the station really gave its listeners good radio with a touching moment (goes back to Jordan's proclivity for on air transparency).
