She is still listed on the station's website, but KTRK 13 vice president of community affairs Denise Bates has left the ABC owned and operated station.
"[I'm] heading into another direction," Bates told mikemcguff.com. "More to come."
Bates had been with KTRK since 2002. Before that she was community affairs director at WISH-TV in Indianapolis where she also worked as a special projects producer. Bates wrote for the Indianapolis Recorder newspaper too. She graduated from Purdue University.
Bates was just nominated for a 2011 Lone Star EMMY award for community service with vice president and news director David Strickland. She also serves on the board of directors of The Museum of Cultural Arts Houston (MOCAH).
I understand that Bates' duties have temporarily been picked up by KTRK human resources manager Vickie Angenend and other staffers.
