Breaking the law at the grocery store

So the other night I was at a Kroger grocery store.

It was about 12:30am. In Texas, that means no more alcohol can be sold.

A young dude, I’m guessing he was of age, showed up to the self checkout area where I was. I noticed he had beer. The first thing I did was look at much watch and laugh.

The first item he took from the basket was the beer. He used his body to block the view of the on duty attendant, scanned the beer and slipped it into a bag. The computer told him to let an attendant check his ID to make sure he was 21. He ignored that request and started quickly scanning his other stuff.

Had he actually gotten away with it? Was there going to be some hours of late night boozing in his future?

Not so fast. The attendant walked over. The guy tried to show his ID, or at least pretended to fumble around for it. The attendant wasn’t interested in the ID. He just grabbed the beer out of the bag, told him it was too late to sell and walked off with the six pack.

A night of youthful fun was destroyed. Isn’t this what big brothers are for? CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
