Don't drink beer out of a shoe...a real warning

A friend of mine sent this very real account of what happened to one of his friends after a wild drinking contest:

Somehow, he got into some bizarre drinking contest with a couple of guys his wife went to high school with. (mind you, "Dave" is 29 but acts like he's 21 and still in college) This place is a family restaurant, not a bar.

Anyhow, he basically goes above and beyond to win the drinking game by pulling out the game clinching trick...he drank an entire beer out of HIS SHOE. The shoe he'd been wearing all day during the game...no socks on...CLOWN!!

His wife said she was so embarrassed...there were family's around and they were totally staring at "Dave."

After he drank the beer out of his shoe, he poured another beer in his shoe and proceeded to give himself a victory shower by pouring it over his head...

From here the story get so much better...the day after they get back from [city held to protect our protagonist's ID], he tells his wife he's coming down with a cold---his throat is sore and he doesn't feel well.

Few days pass and his throat starts to swell shut...he panics and goes to the doctor---he had some fungal infection in his throat, lymph nodes were as big as golf balls (obviously, it was from drinking a beer from his shoe). The doctor told him he'd never seen anyone's throat so infected before (never good to hear that).

The doctor gave him four different shots to make the swelling go down, plus he was on antibiotics for two weeks. The moral of the story: don't drink a beer out of your shoe after you've worn it all day to a football game, just find "Dave" and he'll do it.

Strangely enough, when you go to Flickr and type in "drinking from shoe" you get a lot of pictures of people doing it. If you know any of the folks in these pictures...warn them. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
