The wife and I hit Landmark's River Oaks movie theater Friday night to see Little Miss Sunshine with Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette and Steve Carell.
Before the movie started, the theater manager came out with a microphone to address the audience. He claimed it was just to stall for time to let folks find seats in this very crowded theater. I'm sure that is true, but there was another reason.
Through the great River Oaks Shopping Center preservation story, we have never heard from the River Oaks theater directly. At least in nothing I have seen. You always see someone from the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance being interviewed in front of the ticket windows, but no one from the actual theater has been interviewed from my perspective.
But Friday night the manager did address the story to us in the theater. He basically said the River Oaks Theater has a lot of history and will continue to be showing movies for a long time. That's all he would say.
So does that simply mean the theater will have space in the new Barnes & Noble building? Or could the River Oaks theater move into the Alabama Bookstop former theater?
