Slash speaks, more about Axl performing

Slash recently appeared on Camp Freddy radio on LA's Indie 103. One of the hosts is none other than ex-Jane's Addiction/ex-Red Hot Chili Pepper's guitarist Dave Navarro.

Blabbermouth has the full text of the show where the former Guns N' Roses axeman dispelled the rumors he showed up at Axl's house to get back in the band and a lot more:
"I'm not gonna go into the whole long thing. It was just something that he [Axl] decided he was going to - It was a lot of this stuff was built to promote the next GUNS record and the tour and all that kind of stuff, 'cause there was this blatantly fabricated thing in there that I'd gone to his house and that he and I had a conversation in which I said all this stuff about my bandmates. And it's just blatantly untrue. For one, I have not talked to the guy in any way, shape or form since 1996, so it's going on 11 years. [Laughs] So that's basically it. There's just no truth to it. And all things considered, it put lot of whatever in people's minds that I was that kind of a guy, so it's there you have it. So it's not true."
There is a lot more to this here.

And now to the GNR news. The Axl news hasn't stopped buzzing since the band's first show at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. RollingStone has a very in-depth review of the experience from the crowd lining up to get into the venue, to the lights coming back on at the end.
Finally, at 11:02 p.m., the house lights went dark. "Are you ready? Let me hear you. Are you ready?" came an announcement from offstage. An ambient bass and string overture was drowned by the thunderous roar of the crowd, which grew even louder at the opening guitar riffs and pyrotechnic explosions of -- surprise -- "Welcome to the Jungle."

With Axl Rose's piercing howl, the crowd was assured at last the show was actually happening. Dressed in a black silk shirt and big, black, bug-eyed sunglasses, Axl, charismatic as ever, flew across the stage zigzagging between the seven members of the new Guns n' Roses lineup -- guitarists Robin Finck, Rich Fortus, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, bassist Tommy Stinson, drummer Brain, keyboardist Chris Pittman and Dizzy Reed.

What does all of this tell us? With so much media attention, I guess real rock still has some life left in it just yet. Looks like emo whine rock might go the way of the boy bands. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
