Howard Stern returning to terrestrial radio?

Uh, oh. First you get a dual satellite/FM radio show with XM's Opie & Anthony on CBS Radio. Now Howard Stern could be eyeing a return to the freewaves says the NY Post through Mediaweek:
Stern played right into the speculation Monday on his show, making the claim that he had been approached about a major deal for a dual terrestrial/satellite radio morning show. He fantasized about kicking the butt of his former rivals, at the same time he said he couldn'’t see going back. Speculation escalated Tuesday with a story in the New York Post, where columnist John Mainelli invoked the name of Citadel Broadcasting CEO Farid Suleman--a former Stern compatriot from the Infinity Broadcasting (now CBS Radio) days - –as the possible suitor making the offer. Citadel is getting set to take over Disney/ABC'’s radio stations, which include outlets in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
Sounds like the combo deal is a hot idea. Afterall, you can do your free radio show and get more listeners, and then retreat to satellite and go wild and uncensored.

And let's face it, the satellite radio world equals no press or hype. Sirius might want to look into this offer, then he can just go back to plugging Eh-Eh-Eh again.

No Houston radio station will ever pick up Stern again in my opinion. KIKK-AM only picked the shock jock up as Infinity's (now CBS Radio) gesture of good will to keep him with the company. Oh well.
