Houston TV talk show wars - beware of the makeovers

The Houston talk show war is heating up. We haven't seen anything like this since David Letterman challenged Jay Leno...OK maybe it's not that big.

But one local show thinks another one is ripping it off!!! But Mike McDaniel of The Chronicle has more:

Lara Bell thinks she can top that. The producer and host of Channel 55's Wild About Houston (10:30 p.m. Thursday) has noticed a string of similarities between her show and Channel 11's Great Day Houston (9 a.m. weekdays).

Hair stylist Todd Ramos has been Wild's stylist "for years," says Bell. Now he's a Tuesday regular on Great Day.

Shauna Schroeder, longtime wardrobe mistress for Bell, has been approached to do the same for Great Day's Whitney Casey.

Wild gave away a wedding on an October show and has been following the winning couple ever since. Great Day has been following the wedding plans of a couple since their on-air engagement in March. Rumor is that both brides will be wearing the same dress on their big day. Both brides-to-be were fitted by Bridal Extravaganza.

Last year Wild joined Houston Family magazine for a cute-kids contest. This year, Great Day is partnering with the magazine on another cute-kids contest.

Bell didn't even mention the fact that her assistant, Cristina Terrill, became Casey's second banana before Great Day launched in early March.

Can you blame Bell for feeling paranoid?

Wow. But one Houston talk show insider tells me we are in a small pond and it is hard to find a wide variety of guests. So everyone has a lot of the same stuff. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
