Mike Gillaspia named KIII 3NEWS Corpus Christi evening anchor

Mike Gillaspia has been named as the KIII 3NEWS Corpus Christi permanent weekday evening anchor for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside Leslie Adami.

"To be asked to fill this role at a legacy station like KIII is beyond compare for me," Gillaspia said. "I am humbled by the confidence placed in me by TEGNA and KIII and am grateful that I can continue serving a community that I have called home since 2005. This part of Texas is filled with people I love, and people who have shown me great love in return.

"During my time here, I have both enjoyed and benefitted from working with such a talented and professional team," he said. "The chemistry and confidence I feel sitting alongside Leslie Adami each evening is something I appreciate. With her, Alan Holt, and Chris Thomasson, I know that viewers see what I see: they are among the absolute best at what they do."

Gillaspia steps into the role previously held by longtime anchor Rudy Treviño, who transitioned to a part-time anchor position in January 2025 and continues to host Domingo Live on Sundays.

A familiar face to Coastal Bend viewers, Gillaspia has been a trusted journalist in the region for decades.

He joined KIII 3NEWS in 2020 after spending seven years as morning anchor for cross-town rival KRIS 6 from 2013 to 2020.

Before that, he anchored for NewsWest 9 KWES Midland from 2012 to 2013 and KZTV 10 Corpus Christi from 2007 to 2010. Gillaspia has anchored on all three major network stations in the area—KIII, KRIS, and KZTV.

Gillaspia, a Texas native raised in San Antonio, has earned accolades from the Associated Press and the Texas Association of Broadcasters for his work as an anchor.

"For 60 years, KIII has been home to journalists that the Coastal Bend knows and trusts," added KIII President and General Manager Rebecca Cantu.  "We could not be happier that Mike Gillaspia will now continue that proud legacy."

"Mike understands what matters most to our viewers because he is part of this community," News Director Wes Wilson said. "His professionalism, warmth, and credibility have earned him the trust of our viewers, and I have no doubt he will continue to lead with integrity and excellence. We are thrilled to see him take on this expanded role."
