Phil Archer recalls being stabbed in the 1978 Moody Park riots

KPRC 2 reporter Phil Archer recalls his experience to social media producer Amanda Cochran of photographing the Houston Moody Park Riots in May 1978.

Archer, and fellow channel 2 staffer Jack Cato, were both attacked and stabbed while covering the story. A pair of brothers dragged an unconscious Archer to the police line so he could get to the hospital where he remained for the next week.

Dave Davis, who went on to be the GM for WABC New York, who was a KTRK photographer at the time, took video of an unconscious Archer on the hood of a police car.

The KPRC news unit they drove to the scene was rolled over and torched.
