Telemundo launches “Telemundo En Vivo” live apps and websites

Telemundo Houston KTMD and sister stations launching apps and websites featuring new “TV Everywhere” experience for Spanish-language audiences

MIRAMAR, FL – (January 31, 2018) – Continuing its series of newsroom enhancements and introduction of cutting edge digital tools for local Spanish-language audiences, the Telemundo Station Group today unveiled updated station apps and websites that feature “Telemundo En Vivo” (“Telemundo Live” in English), a new “TV Everywhere” (TVE) experience for digital and mobile app users. This is the first time that audiences who live in markets where a Telemundo-owned station is located will be able to watch live television – including their local newscasts and Telemundo’s entertainment and sports programming – directly within the station apps and websites.

“Our new “Telemundo En Vivo” experience will make you feel like you have a television that can travel with you wherever you go,” said Ozzie Martinez, Senior Vice President of News, Digital and Standards, Telemundo Station Group. "Watching your local newscasts or favorite Telemundo shows has never been easier.”

Audiences can access the stations’ new “Telemundo En Vivo” experience and watch Telemundo’s live programming across multiple platforms, including on a computer, tablet or smartphone, both in and out of their home. To access “Telemundo En Vivo,” users can download their local Telemundo-owned station app from the iTunes or Google Play stores or refresh their app if they have previously downloaded it, as well as visit their local station’s website such as www.Telemundo52.com. Once open, select the “En Vivo” icon (“Live” in English) to access the live experience or “On Demand” to stream Telemundo network programming, including full episodes of Telemundo shows. App users will be required to select and sign in with their cable, satellite or telco provider credentials to watch their shows. To watch programs “On Demand,” users who already have the “Telemundo Now” app will be automatically redirected to it, while those who don’t will be directed to their app store to download it.

“We’re very proud that our Telemundo stations are staying on the cutting edge of digital by introducing products for Spanish-language audiences to help them watch their local and network programming, live and on-the-go,” added Lora Dennis, Senior Vice President of Digital Media, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations.

Key features of the stations’ new “Telemundo En Vivo” experience include:

Ability to watch a 24x7 live linear stream in both portrait and full-screen landscape mode;
Enhanced controls, such as Play/Pause and Closed Captioning capabilities;
Access to a 24-hour Telemundo “TV Schedule” when viewing the player in portrait mode; and
iOS users can mirror their device on their television screen by connecting to their AirPlay device.

Both the live and on-demand content will offer local and national advertising opportunities.

The new “Telemundo En Vivo” experience is currently available through the following 15 Telemundo-owned stations: Telemundo 52 / KVEA in Los Angeles, Telemundo 47 / WNJU in New York, Telemundo 51 / WSCV in Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Telemundo Houston / KTMD, Telemundo 39 / KXTX in Dallas-Fort Worth, Telemundo Chicago WSNS, Telemundo 60 / KVDA in San Antonio, Telemundo 48 / KSTS in the Bay Area, Telemundo Phoenix / KTAZ and Telemundo Tucson / KHRR, Telemundo 40/ KTLM in the Rio Grande Valley, Telemundo 62 / WWSI in Philadelphia, Telemundo 20 in San Diego, Telemundo Denver / KDEN, and Telemundo Las Vegas / KBLR.

Today’s announcement is part of the Telemundo Station Group’s continued investment in its Telemundo-owned stations that is helping each station expand its local news programming and introduce new cutting edge digital tools to better inform viewers. In 2015, the Telemundo-owned stations were the first Spanish-language local broadcasters to introduce the industry’s first individual station apps featuring automated Spanish-language app weather alerts. The alerts are a vital source of information for Spanish-speaking audiences that are impacted by severe weather-related events. This real-time weather information tool also continues to keep local audiences informed through the stations’ exclusive use of their state-of-the-art weather radar technology.
