Jacob Rascon debuts as anchor on KPRC 2
Jascob Rascon |
Looks like the rumor about a familiar name coming to Houston TV is true.
KTRK abc13 anchor Art Rascon's son Jacob, is leaving NBC News to be an anchor at KPRC 2.
I feel like I've been a Jacob Rascon fan page since the beginning.
Back in 2011 I covered the younger Rascon starting at KFOX El Paso, in 2012 moving to KNBC and in 2014 making the move to NBC News.
One of my blog commenters dubbed this "Attack of the Ras-Clone."

Here is the official KPRC channel 2 release on the dueling Rascons:
KPRC-TV Channel 2 is proud to welcome Jacob Rascon to the Graham Media family.
Rascon will cover local and breaking news stories for Houston’s home for news as a reporter and anchor.
Jacob will report for both on-air and digital platforms.
Jacob will join KPRC in September 2017 from NBC News, where he worked as a correspondent based in Dallas. His assignments for NBC Nightly News, Today, MSNBC and NBC News digital platforms took him to nearly every state in the U.S., as well as Europe, the
Middle East and Latin America.
Rascon grew up in the Houston area and graduated from The Woodlands High School. He is an alumnus of Brigham Young University and is fluent in Spanish. He and his wife, Ashley, live in Houston with their four children and he is happy to finally work in his hometown.
“We’re excited to have a Houstonian with such a deep and varied journalistic background join our team,” said KPRC Vice President and General Manager Jerry Martin. “Jacob will be one of our go-to reporters on major breaking national and international stories.”
Rascon traveled with the Donald Trump campaign, interviewing thousands of his supporters and protesters across the country; he reported from Orlando, Dallas and Oregon after recent mass shootings; from Mexico for the capture of the world's most notorious drug kingpin "El Chapo"; from Turkey during the migrant crisis; from Cuba during their historic shift in U.S. relations; and from Colorado leading NBC's coverage of the Aurora movie theater gunman's capital murder trial.
“Jacob is that rare journalist with an extensive national and international resume along with Houston roots. We are extremely lucky and excited that he will be joining the KPRC Channel 2 News Team,” said KPRC News Director David Strickland.
