NewsFix expands to 10pm show on CW39

KIAH-TV launches NewsFix at 10 beginning September 14th

KIAH-TV is pleased to announce the launch of a 10pm newscast weeknights beginning Monday, September 14th. NewsFix at 10 will feature edgy and opinionated editorial, along with unique franchises that consumers can’t get anywhere else.

“We understand the independent streak of Houstonians and reflect those beliefs by offering a contemporary, highly produced newscast that’s clearly different from our very traditional competitors,” said Roger Bare, VP/GM of KIAH-TV. “The new, expanded half-hour at 10 will bring Houstonians important information they need before going to bed. We’re excited to go head-to-head with others in an already competitive time period.”

“We bring real world commentary and authenticity to the events and topics that matter to our neighbors,” said Gary Jaffe, Director of News and Content. “NewsFix presents news in an entertaining and fun way while never failing to inform and empower our consumers…we talk to them as they would each other.”

  1. Well, since they are expanding it, they better have original content and not recycle some of the stuff that was originally aired at 5pm and put it in the 9pm newscast.

  2. Much of their "original" content at 5pm and 9pm is already recycled from YouTube.

  3. Looks like they want to step up and compete with the two top rated hispanic channels at 10. Bring it on!

  4. So now we're gonna see the same re-purposed internet stories at 5, 9, AND 10?
I sure hope BuzzFeed and YouTube are getting paid royalties off of this.

  5. Translation: It's cheaper to rerun our old content than it is to pay for syndicated programming.

  7. Translation: CW 39 doesn't want to do newscasts with anchors anymore because the other stations are kicking their butts!

  8. If this is going to be anything like their Newfix tabloid news magazine show I predict epic failure within 6 months!!!

  9. I wonder if Tribune is still mulling over whether or not to expand the NewsFix franchise to its remaining stand-alone CW/MNT/Independent stations (like WPHL Philly, WDCW DC, WSFL Miami, and KRCW Portland).
