KHOU 11 expands 4pm newscast to one hour

KHOU 11 News at 4pm goes to full hour Monday, September 14

KHOU 11, Houston’s CBS affiliate, will expand KHOU 11 News at 4 p.m. to one hour beginning on Monday, Sept. 14.

Beyond the news, weather and sports coverage viewers have come to count on, the program will bring back popular segments such as Len at Work, and provide expanded focus on important issues of the day that people are talking about.

“We’ll be looking to our viewers to help set the agenda for what we cover and give them a chance to interact and speak out on the things they care about,” says KHOU 11 News Executive News Director Philip Bruce.

KHOU 11 News at 4 p.m. will continue to be anchored by Len Cannon and Lisa Hernandez. While Hernandez is out on maternity leave, KHOU 11 News This Morning anchor Mia Gradney will serve as Cannon’s co-anchor.

  1. Looks like Ch. 13 will be getting major competition for the 4:00pm newscasts now that KHOU-TV is expanding their afternoon newscasts to 1 full hour!

  2. They're trying to increase as much viewership as much as possible. I know they've got a huge ratings drop oddly enough; since Chita got engaged.

    1. That's funny. Two of my buddies stopped watching 11 News in the morning since she got engaged. They've since defected to 2 and 26 respectively.

    2. I have stopped watching 11 News all together if Chita is on at all. Just don't care for her style and realize I may be in the minority.

  3. Agreed, Chita's obnauseous.

  4. Cheeta and the rest of the crew might be extinct soon if they don't get their ratings up. I think they're dead last.

    1. At least she can roll out the cleavage card! Don't laugh....networks and newscasters will do just about anything to get ratings!

  5. KHOU needs to "take a page" from the 2015 Republican Presidential Candidates: go rogue, e.g. candidates like Carson, Trump, Cruz, who aren't typical candidates. KHOU should dig deep and wide and pull in new, but established, talent from lower markets across the country. The new blood will be energized and work harder. Some, if not most, of KHOUs talent has gotten "high on the hog" and it shows- not physically (save Lisa Hernandez-Blank who just popped one out of the oven), just the way they come across.

  6. Speaking of Gradney, she's definitely giving it a good go while Lisa is happily joining the ranks of the Houston's Hot Moms club. I don't know if she'll supplant Lisa, but I'm predicting someone will come along in the next year and hire Gradney away! I think she's about the only one left on KHOU who's not tying the knot.
