Univision & Telemundo claim top spots in Houston TV May sweeps 2015

I'm still on a blogging break, but you didn't think I could resist giving you a Houston TV May 2015 sweeps report did you?

New to the top spots, Telemundo Houston (KTMD) and Telemundo39 Dallas-Fort Worth (KXTX) outperformed their English-language competitors with their 10pm newscasts among Adults 18 to 34.

Perennial sweeps winner Univision, once again scored well in Houston and DFW.

Univision Local Media today announced that Univision broadcast stations in Los Angeles, Houston (KXLN) and Dallas (KUVN) ranked No. 1 in Total Day viewing and primetime among Adults 18-49, regardless of language, outperforming ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX stations in the May sweep. Univision broadcast stations in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and Phoenix ranked No. 1 in Total Day viewing among young Adults 18-34 and ranked No. 1 in primetime among young Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles, Houston and Dallas. For the 12th consecutive May sweep, KMEX Univision 34 in Los Angeles ranked No. 1 in primetime among Adults 18-49, regardless of language, ahead of ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC stations.

During the May sweep, Univision stations in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and San Francisco delivered the No. 1 Early Local News among Adults 18-49 and in Los Angeles, Houston and San Francisco among Adults 25-54. Additionally, during the May sweep, Univision stations delivered the No. 1 Late Local News among Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, Houston and Dallas and among Adults 25-54 in Los Angeles and Houston.

“We continue to hold the No. 1 position in Early and Late Local News in competitive markets like Los Angeles, Houston and Dallas,” said Kevin Cuddihy, president of Local Media, Univision Communications Inc. “This speaks to the relevant and engaging way we deliver our news to our viewers and to the growing importance of the Hispanic community in these markets.”

Total Day
During the May 2015 sweep period, Univision was the No. 1 broadcast station in Total Day viewing (Monday-Sunday 6 a.m.-2 a.m.) among:

· Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, Houston and Dallas
· Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and Phoenix

Univision was the No. 2 broadcast station in Total Day viewing in Los Angeles, outperforming the CBS, NBC and FOX stations among Total Viewers 2+. In New York, Univision was No. 2 among Adults 18-34, besting the CBS, NBC and FOX stations. In Phoenix, Univision was No. 2 in Total Day among Adults 18-49, ahead of the ABC, CBS and NBC stations in the market.

Primetime
During the May 2015 sweep period, Univision was the No. 1 broadcast station in primetime among:
· Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas

Univision was the No. 2 broadcast station in primetime viewing:
· Total Viewers 2+ in Los Angeles
· Adults 18-34 in New York and Phoenix

Early Local News
Univision stations delivered the No. 1 Early Local News among:
· Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and San Francisco
· Adults 25-54 in Los Angeles, Houston and San Francisco

Univision stations delivered the No. 2 Early Local News among:
· Adults 18-49 in New York, Miami and Phoenix
· Adults 25-54 in New York, Miami, Dallas and Phoenix

Late Local News
Univision stations delivered the No. 1 Late Local News among:
· Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, Houston and Dallas
· Adults 25-54 in Los Angeles and Houston

Univision stations delivered the No. 2 Late Local News among:
· Adults 18-49 in New York and San Francisco
· Adults 25-54 in New York
