Let's give a hand to YouTuber T.L. Hughes who has found major market local TV newscast opens from the 70s to the present. I've embedded the Houston and Dallas videos Hughes posted to his account (some Texas stations are not available at this time).

It's fascinating for a TV nerd like myself to watch the evolution of the local television newscast open. In watching the Houston clips, it's amazing to see today's talent in their early days, talent move from station to station, talent who moved to bigger jobs and other talent that were here and gone so fast I don't even remember them!

UPDATE Telemundo's Martin Berlanga tweeted me this clip from the HoustonArchive's channel YouTube account:
KTMD opens from 1989 to mid 1990s

UPDATE: KXAS in Dallas-Fort Worth from 1967 to present

UPDATE: WFAA in Dallas-Fort Worth from 1978 to present

  1. T.L. should find MORE old clips of KTRK Ch. 13 more often.

  2. I made this loop of that funky music KPRC used in the late 1980's.
