KPRC 2 wins Houston morning news in November 2013 sweeps; plus other gains

Local 2 is #1 For Mornings and Total Day in Key Demos

KPRC Local 2 is coming off an incredibly strong ratings period in the all important Nielsen November measurement period. The station experienced year-to-year growth in all newscasts, highlighted by wins at 5:30 and 6:00am.

In Adults 25-54, Monday-Friday 5:30am ratings, KPRC Local 2 took the top spot:
KPRC 2.1
KTRK 1.9
KHOU 1.0

In Adults 25-54, Monday-Friday 6:00am ratings, KPRC was up 47% from last November to earn the win:
KPRC 2.5
KTRK 2.3
KHOU 1.5
KRIV 1.1

“The ratings landscape is changing in Houston,” said KPRC VP/General Manager, Jerry Martin “This is a great accomplishment for our entire news department, especially the morning team, and we’re closing the gap in a number of other news time periods so it’s getting very interesting. We want to thank our viewers for making us number one.”

“Our news is fresh, fast paced and energetic, which is what differentiates us and people are responding,” said Deborah Collura, KPRC’s Vice President and News Director. “It’s a more contemporary and entertaining newscast with the additions of Rachel McNeill and Ruben Galvan to our already strong team. We’ve put a lot of focus into creating a newscast that is a great use of our viewers’ time.”

Local 2 News Today at 4:30am is up 100% Year-to-Year
Local 2 News Today at 5:00am is up 63% Year-to-Year
Local 2 News at 11:0am is up 17% Year-to-Year
Local 2 News at 4:00pm is up 57% Year-to-Year with the addition of Lauren Freeman
Local 2 News at 5:00pm is up 67% Year-to-Year
Local 2 News at 6:00pm is up 29% Year-to-Year
Local 2 News at 10:00pm is up 22% Year-to-Year (M-F)

The success goes beyond local news, as KPRC tied KHOU as the most watched station in A25-54 overall (Mon-Sun 5a-5a), despite Channel 11 having three Texans games:

NBC’s Today Show is up 55% Year-to-Year

The Tonight Show is up 78% Year-to-Year
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is up 80% Year-to-Year
Saturday Night Live dominates its time period with a 2.6 rating
NBC primetime was #1 Mon-Sun
Sunday Night Football and The Voice are the top two primetime shows in November

All ratings are based on Nielsen Live + SD overnights for the measurement period of October 31st, 2013 through November 27th, 2013.
