UPDATE
Is Mary Lee still on KPIX 5?
Former KPRC 2 meteorologist Mary Lee tweeted (as you can see above) that she is joining KING 5 in Seattle. She has officially made the move from Houston to the Pacific Northwest after a European vacation.
"I'm so excited to join the amazing KING 5 team in Seattle as their newest meteorologist," Lee told mikemcguff.com. "My parents now live in the Seattle area, so I'm really happy to finally live closer to my family."
That made me realize I screwed up Lee's departure post. I had posted that Lee was moving to California, because in her goodbye Facebook message, she said she was moving, "back to the West Coast to be closer to my family." Since she hails from Fairfield in Northern California, I just typed in she was going to The Golden State. Turns out Lee's parents now live in Seattle she later said on Twitter (and to me today).
"I won't ever forget Houston" Lee told me. "KPRC Local 2 viewers have been so sweet to me, incredibly encouraging and supportive. I will miss Houston!"
Lee came to KPRC in June 2010 from KXAN Austin to do weekend mornings and report during the week. According to her bio, Lee started her career in California, with stints at KHSL in Chico and KOVR in Sacramento.
Her first day at KING 5 is September 30th.
KPRC replaced Lee with Idolina Peralez (formerly Idolina Walker at KIFI Local News 8/KIDK in Southeastern Idaho, Southwestern Montana and Northwestern Wyoming).
