Gary Striewski |
A little more than a year after jumping 190 markets from KGWN 5 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Houston, Striewski is going east to NESN, "New England’s most watched sports network."
Striewski is now a Feature Reporter and Sports Anchor at NESN. According to a release, Striewski will cover the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Celtics, along with Hockey East, and all the major college sports throughout New England. He will also be part of the weekend anchor team on NESN Sports Today.
“I’m excited to start at NESN and move closer to some family relatives in the Boston area,” Striewski said. “NESN’s reputation as the industry leader in regional sports is known and acknowledged across the country and it’s an honor to join the network.”
Striewski started on the job this week. In a year maybe we will see him on ESPN at this rate.
Stints at the KPRC sports department are ephemeral as of late. Striewski lasted a little more than a year. Sports anchor Kyle Montgomery was at the station from only June 2012 to March 2013. Hang in there Nick Giovanni!
While I was taking time off, it was announced that former Houston Texans offensive lineman Chester Pitts will anchor KPRC's Friday night sportscast and contribute to Sports Sunday.
In a ringing endorsement of the station, Pitts told the Houston Chronicle, “It’s not quite as awesome as when I became a Texan, but signing that contract at Channel 2 was pretty cool."
(Thanks Taylor)
