Weekday CBS 11 News at 6 is #1 for Third Consecutive Major “Sweep”
In the most recent May “sweep” rating period, CBS 11 added viewers in every weekday newscast year over year.
Weekdays at 6 p.m., CBS 11 was the most-watched newscast in the time period for the third consecutive major sweep. It is also the fastest-growing newscast at 6 p.m., adding 47,440 viewers over last May, up to an average of 157,410. In addition, it more than doubled the rating among viewers ages 25 to 54.
In morning news (4:30-7 a.m.), CBS 11 more than doubled the number of viewers versus last May, putting CBS 11 News This Morning just 320 viewers behind third place KXAS and only 1,410 viewers behind second place WFAA. Among viewers ages 25 to 54, CBS 11’s morning newscast more than doubled the rating over last May.
“Year over year, more people are watching CBS 11 News,” said CBS 11 and TXA 21 President and General Manager Gary Schneider. “That includes both local and network newscasts, and the growth doesn’t stop there. In fact, sign-on to sign-off, CBS 11 has grown more than any other station in the market.”
The May sweep marks the end of the 2012-13 television season, during which CBS 11 was the most-watched news at both 6 and 10 p.m.

CBS 11 News experienced year-to-year gains at:
4 p.m. - up 27,080 viewers; Up 4% among viewers ages 25 to 54
5 p.m. - up 32,680 viewers; Up 57% among viewers ages 25 to 54
10 p.m. - up 6,360 viewers; Up 10% among viewers ages 25 to 54
CBS 11 is the most-watched in network prime, with 15 of the top 25 shows, including NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, Person of Interest and NCIS: Los Angeles. And among viewers ages 25 to 54, CBS 11 has 9 of the top 25 shows in prime --more than any other station -- including The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men and NCIS.
CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley is up 44,410 viewers year over year and has more than doubled the rating among viewers ages 25 to 54.
CBS This Morning (7- 9 a.m.) has more than tripled the number of viewers versus last May and has more than tripled the rating among viewers ages 25 to 54.
Wheel of Fortune remains the most-watched program in the time period (6:30 p.m.), with 247,480 viewers. It also the number one program in the time period among viewers ages 25 to 54.
CBS 11 is the most-watched station in daytime (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
