A FOX Television Stations rep tells me Cody is leaving to take care of his elderly parents in Alabama.
"Thanks to all for the kind words, I have enjoyed 28 years at KTBC and have grown to know many of our viewers in a personal way and look forward to spending even more time with you," Cody said on his Facebook page. "I will continue to live in Austin but spend more time in Alabama to assist my parents."
"Dave has been a sports icon in this market for the last 28 years," VP and News Director Pam Vaught said in a statement. "There is no one that knows this city and the sports history we've shared better than him. He will truly be missed.”
Cody's last day on the air will be June 5th.
