KPRC 2's Iain Page out; Keith Garvin in?

UPDATE 2/6/2013: TVNewsCheck reports Iain Page has been named co-anchor of Fox O&O WTXF Philadelphia's Fox 29 News at 5 p.m. He will also report.

Just as KPRC 2 anchor Iain Page announced on Facebook  he was going on vacation (it was announced in all caps like a TV anchor's script BTW), the word is around town that he's leaving the station soon to pursue other opportunities.

Page came to Houston in October 2010 from the Golf Channel. He first did weekends and then replaced METRO's Jerome Gray on the 4pm anchor desk. Before that Page was at ESPN.

Looking back at my old post, I had forgotten that Page also has a law degree. So does KPRC weekend anchor Irika Sargent.

Page's last day will most likely be August 31st.

Here is another interesting thing about Page's departure. Fox 26 KRIV's Isiah Carey AKA The Insite is reporting that recently departed KTVT 11 DFW anchor Keith Garvin could be coming to KPRC.

After all, Garvin did tell ace Dallas media blogger Ed Bark he already had another job lined up - but that is all he would say at the time.

Garvin, who grew up in nearby Bryan-College Station, most famously worked as an ABC News correspondent. It just so happens that KPRC parent company Post-Newsweek is now run by Emily Bar who recently ran KTRK 13 sister ABC owned station WLS in Chicago.

Even closer to home, new KPRC managers Chris Best and Aaron Wische both worked at KTVT.

Am I simply connecting the dots or grasping at straws here? Hey, anything is possible.

UPDATE
Keith Garvin starts at KPRC next week and will be the 4pm anchor and night reporter.

  4. I still miss Jerome Gray.. I lost a lot of respect for KPRC when they let him go. Bring him back if you want a ratings boost!

  5. I'm glad that Iain Page is leaving Channel 2! Just doesn't look like he really CARES about Houston! And I didn't know that Page worked at ESPN? And welcome aboard Kevin Garvin!!! And I miss Jerome Grey as well, now that was a good anchor & reporter!

  7. Why not Iain Page should join KTRK 13. That will be a great idea.

  9. Khambrel was one of the best anchors in town. Warm, intelligent and always with a gleam in his eye. Why they took him off the anchor desk I will never understand.

  11. Sorry to see Iain go. Why does this Keith Gavin need to leave Dallas? I don't think Houston needs Dallas cast offs. Shame on you KPRC!

  12. Mike, I just wanted to know that Iain's bio has been removed from click2houston.com

  13. Too bad - Iain was one of few true talents at that station. It's difficult for a person of color to survive there. Linda. Jerome. Khambrel's many duties. And of course Orlean Sidney, who Sachse called their "resident monkey" and yet old Dom still survives and rules the roost....pathetic.

  14. CORRECTION... I referred to the new incoming anchor at KPRC-TV as Kevin Garvin!!! I was suppose to say KEITH Garvin! My sincere apolgies to Keith Garvin for my mistake!

  15. Is Rachel McNeil still in the 4pm slot? Haven't seen her in a while. Hoping she is on vacation.

  16. Keith Garvin is a snooty a hole. Stood in line behind him in local restaurant. His order was taking longer than he liked. He told the little girl behind the counter, don't you know who I am. Maybe we should come back with a crew. She was embarrassed, and looked like she was about to cry. Rude, he needs to go back where he came from.
