Some more anchor changes at KHOU 11 are on the way. First Ron Trevino returned to mornings, an anchor slot opened on the weekends, and then Lucy Noland went to anchor the 6pm show at KNBC 4.
Now I have more anchor moves for you, some that relate to what I've already mentioned.
On this morning's KHOU 11 4:30am newscast, anchor Sherry Williams said goodbye. But don't worry, she'll still be on KHOU 11. Williams will move her on air appearance 12 hours or so to the new KHOU 11 News at 4 newscast as a reporter (the new show starts this coming Monday by the way replacing Oprah). That newscast, as you might remember, will be anchored by Len Cannon and meteorologist Chita Johnson will do the weather.
But that's not all! Williams will also anchor the KHOU 11 Saturday morning newscast starting in September. That means the before mentioned Ron Trevino and co-anchor Christine Haas will jump in the anchor chairs at 4:30am to replace Williams' current position.
She said she will miss her "early risers" but is excited to be on the new show.
Williams is of course well known in the Houston TV market. Before KHOU 11, she was one of the original main anchors at KIAH 39, back when the station had decent ratings and NewsFix was not on the radar. Previous to that she worked as a reporter at Fox 26 KRIV.

Congrats to Sherry--she deserves the best giving so much and getting so little from 39!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the move. I do not think she really fit in with the morning crew. She seemed like she knew it all and I think she will be great out on the streets.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Sherry! I will miss seeing you on the early show where you did a wonderful job, but I know you are also a great reporter and writer and should be in a time slot that better fits your talents. Best wishes my friend!

Huh?! I love waking up with Sherry! She's just what I need to get me going in the mornings and was secretly hoping she would replace that Haas girl. Moving her to a reporter isn't a promotion. All these bad changes. Time for US to change the channel back to 13.
ReplyDelete"back when [Ch. 39] had decent ratings"
ReplyDeleteD'oh!
Change is long overdue. I always preferred the other morning anchors. Sherri is irritating.
ReplyDeleteIf the news director is smart, he'll put Chita on the morning shift. She would be a sight for sore eyes for 6am viewers, and that would be a shot in the arm for those dismal morning ratings.
ReplyDeletechannel 39 had ratings. really? I don't know ONE PERSON that watches them. NOT ONE
ReplyDeleteTo the above poster,
ReplyDeleteUm, do you realize that there are are alot of intelligent viewers that don't base the channel they watch on what the anchors and reporter look like? Also, please learn the difference between a "natural beauty" and a "fake beauty".
Well, like it or not, that's not the direction KHOU is going. Beautiful anchors...natural or fake.
ReplyDeleteNo need to replace David Paul. He's one of the few good things KHOU has going for them.
ReplyDeleteAll you have to do is look at the other stations. They are hiring attractive morning weather and traffic people like Reyna,Powers,Curry, Whaley and Merhar. Wouldn't be surpised if KHOU pulled Paul off mornings and replaced him with Chita. Whatever it takes to up the ratings...
ReplyDeleteThanks, David. Glad to see you are still reading :)
ReplyDeleteHaas and Whaley haven't helped their a.m. ratings, so why would a 3rd female suddenly do the trick???
ReplyDeleteHonestly I'm surprised they didnt make Sherry Williams co-anchor of the 4pm news... With her background and everything she deserves more than just 4pm reporter and weekend anchor. She is one of the good KHOU anchors... Anyway Congratulations and Good luck in your new position, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteLocal news is now so controlled by the bias media corps I dont watch no more. Its all about ratings and money. And some of the money that some of these phoney big ego anchors makes is so laughable. What a damn waste.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Sherry!!
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm sure Ms. Williams is very capable, I find her very irritating. I'd much rather see Kathryn Whaley as the Saturday a.m. anchor. She has previous experience as an anchor in Las Vegas.
ReplyDeleteIthink Ms williams is the best, and i will not watch the morning show on 11 @ all. i returned to 11 because of ms williams , so i will only watch it on Sat.
ReplyDeleteI don't see Sherry Williams anymore~where is she? I don't watch channel 11 anymore, to many changes. Keep it simple.
