More anchor changes at KHOU 11

Lots of viewers are apparently excited about the return of KHOU 11 anchor Ron Trevino to the station's morning newscast.

Allison Triarsi
But that is not the only anchor change I have learned about at the CBS Houston affiliate. Saturday morning news anchor Allison Triarsi is returning to reporting full time.

"We are filling in Saturday mornings with various members of our staff," KHOU 11 Director of Programming and Marketing Lisa Trapani Shumate told mikemcguff.com.

So which KHOU 11 staffer could be the new anchor behind the anchor desk on Saturday mornings? I am hearing rumors on the street of possible candidates Jeremy Desel, Leigh Frillici and Courtney Zubowski. Stay tuned to find out who gets it.

You can pretend you are Cee Lo Green or Christina Aguiler judging the potential anchors just like they do singers on The Voice. Just turn your chair around towards your television set at the end of the newscast to show your approval.

Speaking of weekend news, I told you in the Ron Trevino post that former morning anchor Vicente Arenas was returning to weekends with Shern Min Chow. Shumate informs me his start date will be Sunday, June 12th. So watch for him then.

Speaking of changes at KHOU 11, I am still waiting to hear what the station is going to do in it's soon to be vacated Oprah Winfrey slot. My bet is still a 4pm newscast as in the reasons I gave last month.

  1. Don't short-change Alex Sanz! I'm liking what I'm seeing from KHOU lately! Guess the new boss has the right ideas!

  2. Out of that trio, Zubowski is the best pick. She has anchoring experience. Do the other 2?

  3. Desel would be a great choice. Triarsi was over her head -- she Peter-Principled at reporter.

  4. I still don't get the Trevino thing. He spent years on mornings and they never moved. Granted he's a step above Arenas, but not sure Trevino is going to budget the meter. They need fresh blood on that show.

  5. Triarsi sounded like she was talking down to you the whole time. Very annoying. Rather water Katie McCall on channel 13.

  6. I think you've got it wrong. Allison is one of the best that 2nd rate station has, I heard she's been tapped to move on to other bigger and better things, maybe even New York.

  7. They should hire Mia Gradney away from 39. She needs the job and would be better than the existing internal candidates.

  8. Wow- I've never seen so many people posting about themselves Anonymously!

  9. The only good thing about sat. a.m. was triarsi and treese. Don't think the others considered even measure up. My husband and I only watched KHOU because of Allison Triarsi. She is natural and real.

  10. I saw Allison fill in for Christine. It was clear she was not ready for the anchor desk. In fact, I can't even stomach her dramatic style of reporting. I think the changes are good. I really like Courtney.

  11. Allison does a great job and should remain on the weekend anchor desk!

  12. I agree with the comment about people posting about themselves anonymously. When you did a post about Triarsi as cherry blossom queen, all comments were positive. It seems these comments are posted by the anchor candidates for Sat. a.m.

  13. This morning was a HUGEimprovement with Courtneyy! Oh my. Thank goodness KHOU made the change they did by moving Allison. I missed Mario though. They aren't replacing him too are they?

  14. Courtney a huge improvement, gee whiz not even credible; khou is grasping at straws over horrible ratings. A change in news director and it doesn't get any better.
