39 KIAH news director KyAnn Lewis departs

Sources inside KIAH 39 tell me that the station's news director, KyAnn Lewis, has resigned from the CW affiliate. The announcement was made to the staff Monday.

Lewis had been in the ND chair for almost two years. An RTDNA profile on Lewis said she joined Channel 39/KIAH-TV from WHNS-TV in the Greenville-Spartanburg, SC-Asheville, NC television market. Before joining WHNS-TV as News Director, she held news management and producer positions at KPTV-TV and KGW Northwest Newschannel 8, both in Portland, Oregon. She is a graduate of the Journalism School at the University of Oregon

I asked for comment from KIAH 39 and Lewis earlier this afternoon but have not heard back from either at the time of this posting. Will let you know if I do.

  1. It's a death sentence position. Primetime programming for women under 30 leading into a newscast on a station not known for any brand of news...not to mention a very small budget. Depending on how you see it, another news director couldn't do much better or worse.

  2. Wait folks! This is just the begining. I hear that Mia chick is next on the chpping block.

  3. After all the marketing $$$ they've spent on Mia -- and only Mia -- they'd be nuts to dump her.
