KRIV (Channel 26) and KPRC (Channel 2) have agreed to share a helicopter for aerial camera feeds. This marks the first move by Houston stations toward the news cooperatives that are becoming commonplace in large television markets.
Channel 26, which is owned by News Corp., and Channel 2, an NBC affiliate owned by Post-Newsweek, will share a helicopter leased from Helicopters Inc. of St. Louis. The arrangement is similar to that shared by Fox and NBC stations in Dallas and New York. READ THE REST
I heard about the planning for this a while ago but thought there would be more stations participating. Will it affect the viewer? Not really. Now you will just see the same camera shot on two stations during car chases.
