H Texas Online has a very nice profile on longtime KTRK anchor Dave Ward. He's about to hit 40 years on Houston TV:
Thus begins another 6 o'clock news broadcast on Channel 13, and yet another record set. On Nov. 9, 2006, Ward will have been on KTRK for 40 years. "As best as anyone can determine, I've been doing the same news show on the same station longer than anyone in the history of American television," says Ward.
Here's a quick story. My mom saved parts of the Houston Chronicle on the day I was born. According to the TV guide section, at 5 pm on Channel 13, Live at 5 came on the air with Dave Ward, Ed Brandon and Bob Allen.
Now that's stability in your daily TV news!
