Ron Corning returns on KERA's “NTX Now"

Ron Corning and Miranda Suarez

After several years away from the local spotlight, Ron Corning is returning to North Texas broadcasting...this time on the radio.

Corning has been named co-host of NTX Now, a new live, weekday morning talk show launching this summer on KERA News 90.1 FM Dallas-Fort Worth and KERA’s digital platforms.

The move marks Corning’s first regular on-air role in DFW since leaving television in 2022. Most recently, he co-anchored The Morning After on CW33 KDAF alongside Jenny Anchondo. Before that, Corning spent eight years as a morning anchor at WFAA. Corning began his career in local television news, leading him to ABC News in New York, where he anchored “World News Now” and reported for “Good Morning America.”

“NTX Now” represents a new chapter for Corning and a return to daily conversations with North Texans. The show will focus on the people, issues, and ideas shaping a fast-changing region, covering everything from politics and civic life to education, arts, innovation, health, and culture.

“It’s a bit of a dust storm right now as people seek sources they trust,” says Corning. “KERA has always been so solidly grounded in this community and has never lost sight of the importance of fact-based journalism and compelling storytelling around the events and people that shape our region. KERA is meeting the moment with this new show, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.”

Corning will co-host alongside Miranda Suarez, an award-winning KERA reporter known for her in-depth coverage of Tarrant County government. Together, the pair will guide live discussions designed to inform, reflect, and connect listeners across North Texas.

Suarez is an award-winning reporter who started at KERA News in 2020. Her public radio career began when she served as a newscast intern at WBUR in Boston, followed by a full-time reporting fellowship at Wisconsin Public Radio. Before joining “NTX Now” as co-host, Suarez covered Tarrant County government for KERA News. Her reporting drove discussion at local government meetings and led to the closure of a West Texas private prison that violated the state’s safety standards. Suarez plans to bring that commitment to meaningful journalism to the talk show format.

“I see ‘NTX Now’ as a gathering place for our audience where we can just sit together and figure out what’s going on locally,” says Suarez. “I’m excited to spend an hour with our listeners every morning.”

“This has been an opportunity that KERA has been measuring and anticipating for some time,” says Executive Producer, Stephen Becker. “With these two charismatic personalities — who are deeply embedded in North Texas culture and are beloved, respected journalists — we aim to earn the ear and trust of North Texas listeners.”

“‘NTX Now’ will be an excellent complement to our existing program lineup,” says Nico Leone, President & CEO of KERA. “Paired with NPR’s coverage of national and international news, statewide reporting from The Texas Newsroom, and ‘Think’s’ ability to spark curiosity — ‘NTX Now’ will provide a compelling, deeply regional context for KERA’s listening audience and will explore solutions to the issues shaping the future of our communities.”

The program will air weekday mornings on KERA News 90.1 FM and will be supported by a podcast, video, social media content, and live community events — extending Corning’s familiar presence into new platforms while keeping his connection to North Texas audiences front and center.
