Marc Istook signed off today from his co-anchor position on WFAA 8 Dallas-Fort Worth's morning newscast Daybreak.
Here is a portion of what Istook said on Channel 8's AM news this morning:
"I am fighting hard to hold it together. Thank you. You know, I'm a big believer in the chapters of life. And I am thrilled for the next chapter. But I am sad and heartbroken to say goodbye to this one.
But as I turn the page, I am somebody who is blessed beyond measure, and I am filled with gratitude. This morning, I got to do this job here at home in North Texas, and it is a privilege and a responsibility that I've never taken for granted. I am so grateful for the many colleagues that you saw right there that have become family, but so many of them are behind the scenes doing the hard work that let us do what we do here on camera producers, directors, writers, editors, security staff, assignment editors, jobs that are far too often thankless and far too often they take place in the dark at night.
So I'm so grateful for all those people behind the scenes that make this happen. But I'm especially thankful for you, the viewer at home, for inviting us into your house each morning for sharing your stories with us. It has been the joy of my life to be able to share this position with you. And to all of you who have sent messages, who have said hello at the grocery store, who told me that you watched. Thank you. Those moments have been the absolute best part of this job, and it's something that I will miss the most.
I know that so many of you have asked about what's coming up next for me. Today is all about WFAA and this time here, but I look forward to sharing with you soon on social media what I'm doing. And in the meantime, I'm just overwhelmed with gratitude and beyond blessed this morning. So again, thank you."
