Mariel Ruiz returned to the WFAA 8 Dallas-Fort Worth weather center this week after a six-week absence.
Ruiz shared the news of her breast cancer diagnosis in July 2025.
The meteorologist, who just celebrated four years with Channel 8, has been undergoing chemotherapy and a surgery which took place on December 1st.
She joined WFAA in 2021 after 4 years at TEGNA sister station KVUE Austin.
