Frank McCaffrey signed off from his role as evening anchor at NBC 23 KVEO on January 6, 2026, closing a chapter in a career that has been deeply rooted in the Rio Grande Valley.

He had been with NBC 23 KVEO since March 2023, where he also hosted "Inside Valley Politics."
McCaffrey first arrived in the Valley in 2016 as a reporter and anchor at KRGV 5 and quickly discovered it was where he wanted to stay.
His career eventually took him to the national stage at Fox News Channel in Washington, where he produced for Special Report.
He later held leadership and anchoring roles across the country, including serving as news director and anchor at KXLF in southwest Montana and as managing editor and lead anchor at WICZ in Binghamton, New York. McCaffrey has also contributed reporting to national outlets, including RFD-TV and NEWSnet.
A native of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area—specifically Gaithersburg, Maryland—McCaffrey began working in television at a young age.
McCaffrey holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from Loyola University Maryland and a master’s degree in government from Johns Hopkins University.
