Kevin Quinn and John Donnelly join KPRC 2 Houston

Kevin Quinn and John Donnelly

Kevin Quinn and John Donnelly, two familiar Houston journalism names, are returning to TV news at KPRC 2 in the station's new executive reporter positions.

Quinn will oversee the morning shift, with Donnelly handling afternoon/evening duties.

"These Executive Reporter roles reflect our commitment to building a more field-oriented newsroom. We’re adding more reporters than ever, and with that growth comes the responsibility to support them with strong, respected leaders," Ana Lastra, KPRC 2's news director, told mikemcguff.com. "John and Kevin will work side-by-side with our teams to elevate storytelling, improve execution in the field, and ensure our journalism remains accurate, compelling, and deeply connected to Houston’s communities."

So you understand what the dynamic news duo will be doing, according to its job description, the executive reporter position oversees and guides daily news gathering and storytelling across broadcast, digital, streaming, and social platforms.  The role focuses on mentoring and coaching reporters and multimedia journalists, strengthening their storytelling skills, and ensuring all content meets journalistic and ethical standards.

It also involves collaborating with newsroom leaders to maintain a consistent content strategy, providing feedback on scripts and stories, and communicating a clear editorial vision that supports impactful, community-centered news coverage.

Donnelly previously worked in media relations for Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg's office and is already on duty with Channel 2.

Quinn, who has been working in corporate communications with Memorial Hermann, will start in December.

Donnelly left his role as a reporter at FOX 26 KRIV Houston in 2019 when he joined the DA's office.

A Colby College in Waterville, Maine, graduate, Donnelly had been with channel 26 since 2003.

Starting in news at WHSV 3 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, he moved on to Local 3 News WRCB in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and then to WREG News Channel 3 in Memphis, Tennessee, as a reporter.

Quinn resigned from ABC13 KTRK Houston in 2018 as a reporter, where he had been for 15 years since 2003, and joined Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen's office as a spokesperson.

Before Houston, Quinn worked for KTRK's sister station, ABC30 News KFSN in Fresno, California. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University and began his TV career at Big 2 KMID Midland-Odessa.
