MIX 96.5 KHMX Houston cuts

MIX 96.5 Houston

There have been two significant departures at Audacy Houston this week, which have heavily impacted the Mix 96.5 KHMX Houston daytime on-air DJ lineup.

Vice President of Programming for Audacy Houston, Melissa Chase, who oversaw programming efforts for 100.3 The Bull KILT, Mix 96.5 KHMX, and 95.7 The Spot KKHH, and led strategy and promotions for the market’s full portfolio of stations, has been cut, according to radioINSIGHT.

Chase joined Audacy in 2021 as Brand Manager for Mix 96.5 and 95.7 The Spot. She was also the afternoon host for Mix 96.5 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Before that, Chase spent 12 years with Summit Media/Cox Media Group as an operations manager and on-air personality.

Other previous roles include talent for iHeartMedia for various stations, including Richmond, New Haven, Harrisonburg, Miami, Houston, and XM21.  She also worked as a production developer for MTV Networks/Viacom and as a voiceover actor.

radioINSIGHT also reports that Jay Michaels has been let go from Mix 96.5 and 95.7 The Spot, where he served as assistant brand manager and midday host from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Michaels came to Houston from Cumulus Media, beginning at Indianapolis programming WJJK and WRWM, and as operations manager for the company’s five-station cluster in Shreveport, LA. He previously served as program director of KQHN and KRMD, and as morning show host on KQHN and at stations in Providence, RI, Lexington, KY, Boise, ID, and Cincinnati, OH. Other prior radio stops include Alpha Media Louisville and Midwest Communications in Terre Haute, IN, and Evansville, IN.
