KTXS 12 Abilene damaged by storms

The KTXS 12 Abilene studios were "experienced major damage" according to the station after Sunday night's severe weather, which brought 80-mile-per-hour winds with it.

Brenna Gibbons reports that, "The garage crumbled on top of the KTXS live van, windows were blown in, roofs ripped off, entire station flooded, and the broadcast tower collapsed on top of the building."

The damage was so extensive that the first newscast to air after the storms, KTXS News at 5, originated from Sinclair sister stations News 4 San Antonio/Fox SA KABB with anchor Ryan Wolf.

"Quite literally, our studio roof was ripped off its hinges, if you will," KTXS Meteorologist Caiden Dinkins told Gibbons in an on-air report. "Our studio roof just blew off right above me and our Chief Meteorologist, Mark Rowlett, as we were trying to take cover from kind of an unexpected situation.

"It’s pitch black, dark, that you’re walking in and you’re just hearing things. And then you see it in the daylight, like I said, it’s just not something you can even imagine. Your whole workplace, the place that you love, the place where we do what we love to do is completely destroyed."

Sadly we have seen weather do damage to Texas television stations in the past:
