LeVon Whittaker joined KXAN Austin as a sports reporter in February 2025.
He fills the spot left open in the KXAN sports department by Jonathan Thomas, who left his weekend anchor role in December 2024.
Whittaker comes to Texas from a sports reporter and multimedia journalist role with ABC 57 – WBND South Bend, Indiana, from March 2022 to February 2025.
He also hosted ABC57's Friday Night Lights and ABC57's Fast Break.
In addition to his on-air reporting, Whittaker has worked behind the scenes with Pacers Sports & Entertainment as part of the freelance production crew since 2016.
Not only can Whittaker break down coverage of the big UT football game, but he can also fix any KXAN IT needs if called upon in an emergency.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Technology and Communication Electronic Media from Indiana State University (2011–2016), and pursued further studies in Information & Communication Technology at the University of Denver (2017–2019).
