KCBD NewsChannel 11 in Lubbock is celebrating 72 years on the air, having first signed on May 10, 1953.
As Lubbock’s second television station, KCBD originally began with the call letters on 1590 AM radio.
On a more somber note, the station is also honoring the memory of the devastating F-5 tornado that struck Lubbock on May 11, 1970.
