Katherine Whaley (formerly of KHOU 11 and ABC13 KTRK), with husband Chris Wadley, plus Kathryn and Travis Boeker, co-chaired Hermann Park Conservancy’s 2025 gala Evening in the Park.

“Hermann Park is one of the rare places that means something a little bit different to each of us yet really brings us all together,” Whaley said. “Seeing it become a part of a new generation’s story is one of the many reasons I hold it so dear. This fresh, welcoming, magical Park truly is Houston’s crown jewel."

Approximately 500 supporters gathered at Molly Ann Smith Plaza in the heart of Hermann Park to celebrate the first anniversary of the Commons. This vibrant, refreshed 26-acre stretch has redefined community engagement and connection in the Park.

Guests arrived in elegant spring cocktail attire at Lindsey Plaza, where a ride on the Hermann Park Railroad awaited them, offering a scenic jaunt through the Commons to see The Great Elephant Migration—the stunning sight of nearly 100 life-sized elephant sculptures that called Hermann Park home for the month of April.

Whaley and her co-chairs raised $690,000 in support of ongoing stewardship and improvements to this century-plus-old Houston treasure.

This year’s gala honored the Radoff family—Bunny Radoff, Russell and Jody Radoff, and Bradley and Monica Radoff—whose deep commitment to Houston has greatly enriched the Park and its ability to continuously develop and serve the community.
