Dave Ward to be inducted into the Lone Star EMMY 2024 Gold Circle

Dave Ward

Dave Ward will be inducted into the Lone Star EMMY 2024 Gold Circle this coming Saturday, November 23, at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio.

"I am deeply honored that The Lone Star EMMY's has chosen to induct me into their Gold Circle," Ward told mikemcguff.com. "It is heartwarming to be recognized by my colleagues, and I am grateful."

According to the Texas EMMY chapter's website

"The Gold Circle honors media professionals who began their careers in television at least 50 years ago, either in a performing, creative, technical or administrative role within the industry or in an area related to television such as TV journalism education, advertising, promotion, and public relations. They must also have made a significant contribution to the Lone Star Chapter television for at least part of their 50-year career. The Lone Star Chapter of NATAS has been honoring and celebrating our Gold Circle members since 2004."

The Guinness World Record holder recently celebrated his 85th birthday and has been honoring broadcasting notables with his own Dave Ward "Excellence in Media" award.

In 2017, the new Crime Stoppers headquarters in Houston was named after Ward.  From a building to a street name, in 2023, the City of Houston debuted the "Honorary Dave Ward Place" street sign next to the Channel 13 studios.

Ward, who joined ABC13 KTRK Houston in 1966, recently wrote Good Evening, Friends, a memoir of his extraordinary broadcasting career. The legendary media icon signed off channel 13 in May 2017 and served as the grand marshal of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's Parade.

Other honorees this year include 2024 Gold Circle inductee Jerry Cadigan of WFAA 8 Dallas-Fort Worth.  Silver Circle inductees include Antonio Guillen of KWEX San Antonio, Michael Humphries of KENS 5 San Antonio, and Sue Calberg of KENS 5 San Antonio.
