Jason Allen moves from CBS News Texas KTVT Dallas-Fort Worth to a new CBS News initiative that assembles "a group of journalists who will lead our national movement of community journalism from our news hubs across America."
He along with Andres Gutierrez, Nicole Valdes, Skyler Henry, Ian Lee, and Kati Weis, are a group of newly named correspondents who will be placed around the United States as multiskilled journalists.
"These multiskilled journalists, some of whom are already a part of our CBS News and Stations team, will be based in cities across the South and the middle of the country with growing populations," Adrienne Roark, president of newsgathering and editorial for CBS News and Stations said in a statement. "They join our local-to-global team already delivering thoughtful, engaging, and timely reporting across our platforms. These news hubs will allow us to respond to breaking news quicker, unearth stories of national importance from their own communities and deliver deeper reporting on the 2024 Election from every corner of the country."
As a KTVT reporter, Allen has reported live during numerous severe weather events nationally for CBS News, including Hurricane Harvey in Texas and major storms in Florida, Louisiana and California.
Allen will be a correspondent based in the DFW Metroplex.
He has been with KTVT since 2011. First as a reporter and then upped to investigative reporter/anchor.
Before Texas, the Trinity Christian College grad worked as a reporter for four years with WFTV 9 Orlando, Florida.
He previously worked as a reporter for WBAY 2 Green Bay, Wisconsin, and as an anchor/reporter for KTWO Casper, Wyoming.
