Brenda Matute is leaving her evening news anchor position with 12News KBMT Beaumont and the television news business.
Recently engaged, Matute is moving to be with her fiancé and take a City of Fort Worth communication coordinator position.
Matute joined KBMT in August 2022, anchoring The Beat at 4 p.m. and co-anchored 12News at 6 and 10 p.m. with Jordan Williams.
This year, the anchor team won a Texas Broadcast News Award for best anchor team for small market stations.
Matute joined KBMT from KVEO Rio Grande Valley, where she was a morning anchor.
Before that, she worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor for KZTV Action.
The University of Houston grad got her television start with KIDY/KXVA San Angelo, where she was a morning show producer and then reporter.
